Distributor wires
« on: February 02, 2018, 11:04:20 AM »
After reading some posts about breaks in the distributor's internal leads, I decided to replace mine if I could while refurbishing my distributor. Rhode Island Wiring couldn't duplicate them, turns out they're a very fine strand, very flexible wire so as to not impede the advance mechanism.

I tried a guy that specializes in vintage ignition & electrical parts that previously had my vacuum advance & tune up parts, all NOS AutoLite. Turns out he has quite a supply of these leads too. Not cheap $25 for the pair, but a perfect match on wires & terminal ends.

Haven't checked in a few years but I was able to obtain the small distributor wires from Carquest back when I needed some. There are still some Carquests around but most of their inventory was absorbed into Advance Auto.

Doc is correct...I worked at CarQuest, now Advance for many moons...Advance needed our lines, but anyway, many of the counter guys that were former independent CarQuest(not corporate bound) still have access to outside venders corporate won’t  allow most to use. Seek them out...you can spot them pretty quickly:-)
