1949 Kaiser Rebuilt Motor
« on: September 27, 2019, 04:51:34 PM »
Guys, its been awhile since I have been on.  My 1949 Kaiser started knocking so I pulled the motor, but a rebuilt one from a club member and dropped it into the car.  Moved from Texas back to Georgia and after a year or more I've got it all hooked back up and running!!!  Just hunting a replacement gas tank and I'll be able to take her out on the open road once again.  For now just a quick drive around the block until I can solve my tank problems but it sure is nice to drive her again.

Hi Joe, Glad toy "returned to your project" (and this forum) Good luck getting her..it back on the road again. I don't have a gas tank, but I am pretty sure you can find one at Desert Valley Auto Parts (dvap.com). I don't know if a tank from just any "senior" Kaiser will do, but I  suspect that K-F used the same tank on all 47-55 models (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Not true.  The '51 and later are a "U" type shape and will not fit the earlier cars.

Thank you, Fid for correcting me.
But Joe, there is still "hope" for you finding a suitable gas tank.

Desert Valley Auto Parts currently has a '49 Kaiser Vagabond and a '49 Frazer Manhattan, both of which are being parted out.
So, if you are interested, send them a parts inquiry from the following web address:

Hi Joe
I think I have a decent tank with the fuel sender still in it . I was saving it for a future project but I am getting older and probable won't need it . Send me a message if you are interested . I am the one you got the engine from .

I’m having a guy build me a stainless tank as I was unsuccessful in finding a tank. I need a good sending unit though. I’m in Salt Lake City for the next week and hoping the tank will be ready by then

I put an electric fuel pump on it an it cranks very easily. I have a gas line running into a gas can (ghetto) but at least I can hear it run and drive around the block. Once I get the tank settled I may go back to the manual fuel pump.
