Can anyone tell me, is this legit, or a piece of 'bleeeeep'
« on: February 14, 2020, 11:22:52 AM »
So looking around for parts for my '51 Deluxe I'll need in the future, I found this on Ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NORS-MASTER-CYLINDER-KIT-1949-1950-1951-FORD-51-55-KAISER-FRAZER-11302-M24/132941645583?epid=27021198874&hash=item1ef3f0870f:g:4nUAAOSw2DdbPoHH

And since I now know the Ebay sellers sometimes exaggerate what cars their parts will fit, thanks to several of you...

Is this a legit rebuild kit for a 51 master cylinder, and is the $17 (price plus shipping) a reasonable price?

And thank you all, so much, for all the help you've given me since I joined!

Looked at the listing...that is the basic master cylinder kit for a 1951-55 Kaiser (same master cylinder as used on 1949-51 Ford cars and light trucks).  You will see an illustration of the bits in the 1951 Kaiser and Frazer Shop Manual Kaiser-Frazer put out.  It's in the BRAKES section, on page 211.

To be able to work on your 1951 Kaiser you should get the following as soon as you can if you don't have these items already:

- 1951 Kaiser & Frazer Shop manual from Kaiser-Frazer Corporation
- 1951 Kaiser Orange cover 1951 Illustrated parts list from Kaiser-Frazer Corporation
- If your car has Hydra-Matic, the 1951-53 Hydra-Matic Shop Manual

This looks like a NOS (new old stock) kit. Although I believe it is the correct kit, it is old. NAPA has a brand new Master Cylinder rebuild kit for $17.99. A better choice. I bought many new parts for my Kaiser from them. Any problems just return it, no hassle.

Have the shop manual already...Larry has a set of the parts and hydramatic manuals awaiting a check from me...hoping to get that check out to him by the end of the month.  :)

That is awesome news Bill...I'd much prefer a new to an NOS kit.  I'll try to find the NAPA equivalent part no. to pick one up.  :)
