Found something funny under driver seat...
« on: June 19, 2008, 08:32:53 PM »
Got our 50 Kaiser today, and under the driver seat is what looks like an aftermarket heater.  Has anyone heard of such a thing?  It's a Motorola and just really weird.  Car is awesome and we can't wait to start the restoration process!  We started the car, and she actually runs!  She has a flathead 6 motor and it has KF on the motor.  We are in need of some knobs and the lighter, so if anyone knows where to find those and can help us out, it would be great!

Regarding knobs and other parts in general, Rudy Philips in California reproduces a lot of them.
His number is :
Rudy's KF Parts
1-760-789-3608
He's located in Ramona, CA.
If you talk with him and order parts from him, ask him to send you his catalog.

If the car has a radio and it needs to be repaired, let me know, I do that.
1953 Henry J Corsair Deluxe
Edgar Kaiser's custom 1951 Henry J
1951 Kaiser Special
1952 Allstate Deluxe

Need your classic car radio repaired? I repair vacuum tube radios

Hey, I finally got this forum thing to work again!

Motorola as well as Stewart-Warner (South Wind brand) made aftermarket alternative heaters that could be hooked up in Kaiser-Frazer products.  This is a point deduction issue if you are going for complete originality.  It is interesting to see what others come up with in cars being found.

I found an old comb with made in USA on one side. A lottery ticket that was 25 cents and you won a crisp 50 dollar bill it looks like the tickets you get at the fair to ride the rides. And a 1950's california vehicle code summary book that show all the laws of the time and the drawings of the cars are all spit window cars. The goveners name on the cover is Earl Warren, it is kinda falling apart i keep it in a comic book keeper my little brother gave me. Other than that i think i have the original spare tire and it holds air. You have to love old cars i found my 1947 dealer licence plate frame in a 1974 bug that my cousin bought for 300 bucks.

I may have you all beat...

I may still have my 1951 Kaiser Special 2-door Traveler (it went into emergency storage several years ago and I haven't seen it lately).  When I bought it home, I found that an opussum was living under the front seat!  Definitely not K-F or aftermarket equipment.

Also found the body build sheet, or rather almost all of the sheet.  I saved it for my files.

Was it alive?
The only animal i found in my car was left of a dead mouse under the back seat.

Since you asked, yes it was alive!  Animal control would not come out to remove it, so I sort of flushed it out with the hose and a good spray of water.  It went out the hole in the floor behind the front seat and was last seen wet and upset, waddling down the driveway towards North Avenue (in Wauwatosa WI).   It was also the last time he (or she) was seen in the car.

If we can expand to back seats, when we took the seats out of my 1952 Kaiser deluxe (the brown one that I still have and drive) we found some bamboo fishing poles.
