Hood Hinges Bad
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:24:42 PM »
On my '51 the hood will fall down due to very weak springs that are part of the hinges. I use the
old broom handle method to prop the hood up, but for safety I want to know does anyone know
of a rebuilder for the hood springs?

You might try this guy. He did my Henry J Hinges and they came out good.

Kaiser Bill listed him on his website:

Larry Barker told me that I could remove the hinges and re-stake the pivot pins with a hammer and a dull chisel until they tighten up, then never lube the hinges for any reason. Might be worth a try before you spend $300.00 to have them rebuilt.

It is not the hinge pins, the springs are too weak to hold the hood in place when it is up.
