The changes my 47 has made in the last few years
« on: July 13, 2009, 08:42:17 PM »
The first day i had it. I drove it that day.

Heres me giving my grandpa a beer tring to explain why i think its cool

Well i lost intrest for about a year and had it forsale for $500 and no one bought it.
So i decided to start working on it again a few months later she looked like this.

Then i took it to the west coast primer nationals and after looking at all the cars i think i got a little crazy.
This is what i ended up with 9 months later.

It now has airbags and sits on the frame when the air is out and it will lift up about 6 inches. I did it with galvanized pipe and ballvalves and antique brass gauges.
But it has the original rear end and drive line also it has all the original front suspension and steering.
The only thing im doing to the brakes is i bought a dual resivor brake master cylinder off ebay for 45 bucks and im going to install it right where the stock one was.
The engine is mostly stock and i dont think its ever been rebuit.
I changed all the gaskets and replaced the water pump.
I also installed a 12 volt alternator and a new remote oil filter system
It has an edmunds head and intake and im now making headers
I made a floor shifter for it
The dash looks stock but the panel below the original gauges is a panel that i made removable and i has a modern oil pressure gauge temp gauge and fuel gauge behind it
I made all the interior the headliner was gone i made one out of 1950s maps
The door panels were gone so i made them but left the stock buttons and cranks
I made all new trim peices for everything else out of the same material that they use in movie theaters because its fire proof and green and i got it for free
I have a kf spot light on the driver side and i just got the other kf spot light for the passenger side
It has kf kool breeze wing window covers
I bought the visor on ebay and the lake pipes at the swap meet by the way thats the exaust they are not for show
I made a new grill out of thin wall rollcage tubing
I extended the fenders down lowered the bumpers
I put on buick port holes and made the fender skirts

This winter i will either make the back doors suicide or extend the front doors and make it into a 2 door.
Im also going to remove all the wing windows and go with one peice windows.
But for now im just going to finish the headers and change the brake master cylinder then drive it for the rest of the summer.

I hope you like but i understand if you dont

Its all stock
Stock rearend and driveshaft
Stock front A arms spindles ect
I had to cut the front spring pockets a little
Inotched the rear end took all but 3 leaf springs out and then flipped the over
That made it lay frame. The bags push againt the leaf springs so i lose about and inch of lift.

What split master cylinder did you get to bolt in, in place of the original.

Wonder if it will fit a '54?

It doesnt fit in the original spot im going to weld a bracket to the frame.
They call it a corvette style? It has ports on each side
