"1951" Willys Aero for Sale
« on: October 19, 2014, 09:55:14 PM »
While web surfing today, I came across an ebay listing for an Aero Lark or Wing.  I am not sure which as the body scripts are missing.  The starting bid is $2850 and there are currently no bids on this car which is located in South Dakota.  I also know this car was previously listed on ebay for $2500 and there were no bids when the listing ended on Sept 24.  This car's exterior looks a lot like the exterior of my '52 Wing, but the seats and upholstery are very different.  The body looks straight, and there appears to be relatively little exterior rust.  I find it odd that neither the trunk interior or engine compartment are shown given the number of pictures in the ad.

Current listing:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Willys-2-DOOR-SEDAN-STANDARD-/221580476930?vxp=mtr

Old listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221552095962?item=221552095962&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Perhaps Aeroman is familiar with this one.

All in all, not a bad looking car for the money. Since they're a unibody car, any underside rot usually dooms these cars to the parts heap....but this one is solid. If I weren't knee deep in a Henry J restoration, I'd consider this car.

And yes, a few pix of the engine and trunk would help.

Nice clean car at a fair price. 1952 Willys Aero Wing. He said the interior was complete and original but some mouse damage. If the car has 157,000 miles, then the interior should be shot. Lousy cloth used by the factory, probably a close replacement was used. Wish he had interior shots in the auction.
Fixer-upper would probably take $3-4,000 to make into a driver, that give you an investment of almost $7,000 and then transportation expense. Not sure this car is worth much more than $10,000 if it were near perfect, maybe as much as $15,000. But then, I kind of live in the past... Maybe these are blue chip investments that no one has realized yet...
