Rear plate on 48
« on: March 31, 2017, 09:31:40 PM »
Is the rear plate on a 48 supposed to be centered up and down in the box outline on the trunk?   The plate on mine is mounted low in the box (to be near the light)?   It also had wing nuts on the plate mount bolts that go thru the trunk lid - are these correct or some adulteration over time?  Thanks.

Here's a picture of the correct plate mount on a 48 Kaiser. The mount is adjustable at the top to allow for different width plates in use in the US at the time. It mounted using stove bolts with regular nuts.

Thank you for the reply - the adjustment info and picture were very helpful.  So the "clip" for the plate is indeed on the bottom!   Have yet to remove the tag and mount (still liquid wrenching one of the wing nuts) but did notice the clip under (but not on) the tag and then began to think the whole thing was upside down.  Cool in a way for the clip to be on the bottom.  Thanks again.
