53 Manhattan VIN Question

Can anyone tell me where I can find the VIN number on a 53 Manhattan?  I inherrited the car but it hasnt been registered since 62/63.  DMV doesnt have a record that they can locate.  Please help.

Usually the VIN is inside the driver's door frame on the front. Check there. If it's a 1953 Manhattan, the number will begin with K53x

i just transfered my 1949 and the vin is the motor #

how the heck the orignal motor was still in the car is beyond me.
1953 traveler (long gone)

Many states used the motor number for the serial number years ago.  I know that California did thru 1955.  You were supposed to get a new title when you replaced the motor but most people did not bother to do it.  Fords were a real problem becaust their motor number was on the transmission bellhousing.  With the original motor in your car it will make a nice restoration and good luck with it.
