Wanted: NOS taillight & trunk handle gaskets '49 Kaiser
« on: March 08, 2011, 04:07:07 PM »
Just a shot in the dark, but does anyone have a good NOS set they are willing to sell? Apparently the repro ones need to be modified to fit correctly.  Thanks, Kent

Heating the repops in a pot of hot water for a few minutes will make them pliable and fit as they should. The club's manufacturing fund does have the trunk handle gasket in stock. Rudy Phillips should have the tail light gaskets.

The heating in water works for many types of gaskets and seals. For example, the darn near impossible task of replacing a rear Studebaker C or K coupe rear window is made much easier when the pros do it by soaking the seal in hot, soapy, slippery water. THEN and only then the string trick will work.

Kent, I have both in perfect condition on my web site.  Believe they are repros...much better than dried out 60 year old rubber (in my humble opinion).
