Lets try to summarize ------------
ENGINE COLORS - 47-48 models (Gray), 49-50 (Light Green), 51-53 including all HJs (Darker Green), 54-55 (Maroon) and all Allstate engines (Dark Blue).
Use Engine Color on Block, head, head bolts, bracket that mounts to head bolts for throttle...but NOT the attaching linkage, nuts or bolts. Also green: bell housing and transmission. If a hydramatic, the stamped steel inspection cover should be semi gloss black. Also green: harmonic balancer, water neck, generator mounts, oil filler tube but not cap, dip stick, oil pan and drain nut, water pump, pump pulley, intake manifold and distributor base (just the part that contacts the head).
Note: Linkages vary from year to year and model to model so some of them may be painted versus natural color...again, it depends upon the model
CAST COLOR: exhaust manifold
NATURAL COLOR: Flat plate and mounting nuts/screws - flat plate that mounts between distributor and base, coil mount (part that wraps around coil), fuel pump, throttle rods and linkage, carburetor, tube from water pump to heater, including large brass mount bolt.
BLACK (original was not high gloss): Fan blade, generator, starter, distributor body, coil mount (part that mounts to the block), air cleaner.
Are we getting closer??
