Here are the numbers -  BODY-4,  MODEL-522, PAINT-140, TRIM-5400,  I.P.-32,  //////  Engine S/N 2141852,  Mod 6L226-K  .

I'm not near any of my documentation for all the numbers but I do know a model 522 would a be a 1952 as opposed to 1953. They look similar so it would be easy for someone to think a '52 was a '53. More later when I can get to my info.

Paint 140 = Onyx
Trim 5400 = Persian gray luxura and black bambu vinyl
IP 32 = Persian gray metallic (interior paint)

And, as Fid mentioned, 522 would denote a 1952 model car. What's the body and/or serial number start with? Armed with those numbers, we can tell you what it should be.

nice color combination, by the way! Not too many black cars were produced and it's nice to see that another has turned up.

A 522-4 would be a 52 Manhattan 2 door sedan; a 52 Manhattan 2 door Club Coupe would be a 522-7.  There were Club Coupes in 51, 52 (Virginian) and 'real' 1952. If it is a 52 Virginian, it would be a Deluxe instead of a Manhattan, as Frazer in 51 was still using Manhattan

The rest of the numbers are interesting.  140 paint would be black (onyx) and I think in a single colour--not a two-tone car--, and I don't know what trim 5400 is as I don't have my Handbook at hand (paper or electronic), but it seems it is a *1953* combination, not a 52 Virginian (reserialized 51 models with the small taillights) or late 52 (big taillights). The trim codes are 2xxx for 1952, and there are 1953 cars on the registry sporting 140 5400 codes, including one 5324 53 Manhattan 2 door sedan. Not sure what interior paint 32 is either. So, possibly a 53--or a 52 with a 53 plate affixed??

You can simply tell a 52 from a 53, as the trunk hinges on a 52 are still chrome and external, whereas on a 53 they are hidden inside. There are several other obvious visual differences, trunk lock, rear fender trim, headlight rings, dash etc but that is the one most unlikely to have been changed over the years, I think.

This could possibly be a 52 Manhattan Club Coupe in real life but the numbers don't seem to match what it should be.

Engine serial number is not the same as a serial number, and that number starting 214..... is too high to be the car serial number  6L226-K is just a reference to it being a Kaiser 226 CID flathead six, I think

That Trim Code 5400 does not show up in the 5224 Model of the Handbook but it does show up on the 53 and 54 models

Data plate.   Motor and trans rebuilt. Front seat reupholstered, not exact but seat was redone (cushions) and owner got a "very close" match.

That data plate reads 532-4 I do believe.

The hood ornament, rear fender trim, lack of outside trunk hinges and black horn button certainly indicate that it's a '53. I agree, the model number on the data plate appears to be 532 - the rivet obscures the 3 but that's what it looks like to me. The best way to tell is look at the serial number which is on a tag between the hinges on the driver's door.

The Body Number in the photo under the Data Plate also shows the 532.

Based on info on the body plates, it appears that the body may have been built during November of 1952; If I had a serial number I might better peg final assembly time frame

it is #31 on the registry list, but the information is incomplete.

Its a lovely car, and appears to about driver condition. With some elbow grease and polishing compound on the windows, taillights and paint, and some thorough cleaning with a toothbrush, it might look quite nice (for a start)
