Well I just finished putting in two new windshields in my 1949 Kaiser. I removed the old ones and had new ones cut at a local glass shop for $90 a side. Finding a gasket was tricky. I finally have up on a couple of contacts I found on the Internet and went the Steele Rubber who sent me a PDF of gasket material. I found one that look similar to mine, they sent a free sample and it appeared to work. I ordered 12 feet and reused my center bar. It cost me $63. It went in beautifully (my car has chrome trim on the exterior of the car. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and all the original trim fit back in its proper place. I did it by myself and it took me about three hours to install. I've never installed a windshield before and it would have been easier with help. Bottom line, it looks great and I'm very pleased with the outcome. Just thought I'd share.
