Well I have been humbled.

Over the last few months CIRCLEKF has been picked apart by having key elements of the site being deleted.

The entire site is driven by tables in an online database.  These tables totally control what the website displays and provide the links to everything that is being shared with you all.  Most all of the security is based on your user logins, as my vision is to allow everyone to add content to the site in the long term this online update ability is part of the design.  The site has only a handful of actual webpages which display all the information.

Some of the things being delete from CIRCLEKF were restricted to be only maintainable by me.  I thought someone was using my password to destroy the site.  Who would want to destroy a Kaiser Frazer Website??

Silly me ... I thought it must have been one of you ... NO - it was web robots from Google and MSN. These robots search the web looking for content so they can provide everyone with those fantastic search capabilities.    But when they found my pages that maintains USERS and start executing DELETE actions, they have removed all but 30 of you who have created profiles.  When they find the page that maintains the KFW Models and execute DELETE actions they removed 80 percent of the models.

In the month of May web robots hit CIRCLEKF 284,511 times and downloaded 12 GB of content.  Pretty amazing if you think about it.   I am now capturing the IP Addresses of anyone accessing the update programs and blocking them from doing additional damage.

If you have had your user name delete feel free to re-register.  As a guest you can not get access to the KFOCI Department and/or access the Suggestion box ... which was totally emptied by the ROBOTS.

Sorry for boring you all with this ramble but thought you might have wondered why new content additions to the site have been slowing down.  If you find something that looks wrong or incorrect do send me an email and let me know so I can fix it.

Jim

WOW, for the level of damage you suggest, from what should be a non destructive source, YOU have remained exceedingly calm and direct.  I likely would have launched a four letter rant with emphasis and certainly made fewer friends.  I for one as a relative newbie thoroughly appreciate your efforts to help those in the hobby and for making the information available, including repopulating the damaged files you find.

Thank You

The sad part of this story ... Every two weeks I back up the CIRCLEKF database tables to my local computer
.. These backups went into my download folder.
I also backup my PC to an offline storage device and put it in my safe ... But only selected folders ... However not the download folder.
Did I mention my lap top had a major failure and it had to be replaced?
Restored the backups, but no backup files for CIRCLEKF,  that is why I am having to rebuild.   :'(

Keep up the Great Work on Circle KF.  I appreciate all your efforts and will post stuff to the site that I may be able to contribute.  I am going to check my account now to see if it is still active and if not I will recreate it.

Life was so much simpler when the only tech thing we had to worry about was how to stop the clock from flashing 12:00 on the VCR!

Just added a PART NUMBER LOOK UP function to CIRCLEKF.COM

You have to go into the Parts Department and give the Part Number Lookup a try.

This function uses a database of over 26,000 part numbers from 10 different KF parts manuals.
All Kaiser Frazer ... guess I best add in the part numbers from a few Kaiser Willys Parts Manuals.

Added another function in the Parts Manual area.

Select a Parts Manual in the Parts Department then click on the Quick Reference Index.
You can then select a Major Group - Engine, Exhaust ...
Then you can select a group and go directly to the page in the manual online.

Enjoy

To get access to the KFOCI Dept of CIRCLEKF.COM you must be a registered CIRCLEKF user and I have to check your KFOCI # against the Paid up KFOCI Member list.
That is what I am considering VETTING.
Seven more of you just got VETTED so the KFOCI Department is now available to you.

When You register for CIRCLEKF  I have been asking if you are interested in a CHECKLIST and BARTER capability.
Part of my plan has been to allow registered users to create lists of KF DOCUMENTS that they HAVE, OR that they WANT OR that they have EXTRAS of.

From there the idea is to act as a match maker - matching people who want something with those who have extras.
I have been calling it a KF EXCHANGE where no money exchanges but you trade something extra you have with some one who has what you want.

Trying to set the value in of a given KF DOCUMENT in my "Buffalo Currency"  fell apart when I had to depend on each user to accurately express the condition of their documents they want to barter with.

I will be implementing a WANT CHECKLIST and HAVE CHECKLIST function in the near future.
You will have to be a register user to use these functions.

Some thoughts to ponder.

Jim

Jim, I was a registered user before and now I'm not. When I put in my username and password it says my password is incorrect. Do you have a way to re-register?

Been reposting the KFW Magazine Ads to CIRCLEKF.COM in the Publicity Dept.
1946, 1947 and 1949 are done.
This one from the Fashion Academy Series is one of the most difficult to find KF Ads.
I would be curious how many you have this ad in your collections?     F R E D R I C A

Had fun at the Gettysburg Natl ... Picked up an addition dozen Parts and Accessory Bulletins from Steve Carey.
Got them posted to CIRCLEKF.COM.  Now have over 200 of them online for your viewing pleasure and research.
You will find them in the Parts Department.
