Save the date - June 6
« on: March 17, 2015, 06:22:42 PM »
I was contacted by a local auction firm to post some information about an upcoming auction in Newark, OH...which is just east of Columbus. In the auction is a Darrin, an ultra-low mileage 53 Kaiser Manhattan and a 49 Kaiser Special. They also have some NOS and used parts that will sell at auction.

I plan to drive down in a few weeks to look everything over so if there's an interest in any of the cars, let me know and I'll look a bit closer.

Attached is a flyer as sent by the auctioneer.

They look like nice cars and this will be a good opportunity to see what a nice Darrin will really bring with no reserve!

Some of the results from today's auction. About 50 lots were offered online. There were more sold offline, but their conditions ranged from poor to usable.

A new (don't know if it is NOS or a reproduction) Darrin windshield brought $950
An NOS Darrin tach drive distributor - $450
A pair of NOS HJ bumper guards with a pair of NOS Darrin headlight doors - $250
A nice, used Darrin grille - $250
A reproduction Darrin grille - $375
A 49-50K hood ornament, complete - $180, a second unit brought $160

All of the above plus a 10% buyers premium. Most everything brought well over current asking prices...but then again, all of the items were very nice.

Updates later with what the cars brought.

The auction must have been well attended by Kaiser Frazer guys!  Thanks for the up-dates.

Auction update - the 49K with 13000 miles brought $8800 and the 53K with 3000 miles fetched $15500. The Darrin was the buy of the auction at $62000. It was reportedly an unrestored car that could have been made to run and driven as is.
