7" wheel width
« on: September 16, 2015, 05:37:37 PM »
Does anyone successfully use 7" wide wheels on their Kaiser?  I need backspace depth for my discs and in order to get 4" I have to get a 7" wide wheel.
Hard to tell the fit when the frame is not under the car.  Thanks!

i do NOT have disc to deal with...
but wheels and tires  can be made to fit...
back spacing as you said ...
spacers  may or may not  help...
short tire profile sometimes too...

Hi Tom

I have put 8" Cragar smoothies on my '53.

These fit my Customline that has been disc braked so should fit around your discs.

I think from memory they are 4" rear spacings but in any case were not special order.

The fronts have 225-75's and the rears 235-75's.

There is a tiny bit of rubbing at full lock when going over a hump etc. but I have lowered mine about 3"

The rears don't rub at all.

I have been following your brake upgrade posts with interest as I will be doing a similar upgrade next winter.

Mal.

i just checked the 15 x 7/ 3-1/2 rear offset (standard)
looks to clear disc and do not rub or hit ANYTHING
front or rear on 1951 HenryJ

Ventshades (as they're called in the trade) are available - try a want ad here on the forum and in the bulletin.

Mounted the wheels and tires, so now I have a rolling frame, which makes it easier to move about in the garage!
Swept the place out and now working under the body to clean, paint and undercoat.

Finally got the belly of the body cleaned, primed and painted!

Now plan to get a can of roof tar and undercoat.  PU!
