Ignition switch for '53 Kaiser Manhattan
« on: January 25, 2016, 05:31:07 PM »
Hi,

I need an ignition switch to suit my 1953 Manhattan,

NOS is my preference but good used is OK.

There is one to suit a 1951 Kaiser on EBay but I can't tell from the photo whether
it has 4 posts/terminals on the back as that is what I need.

Can anyone tell me if this will fit as I don't want to get the wrong one  because it works
out to be quite expensive with post to Australia and the current poor exchange rate.

Thanks,
Mal.

Mal, the iginition switch for the 52/53 & 54 Early Special is different from the 51 ignition switch.  The KF Part Number is 213669.

They arn't as plentiful as the 51 switch but do show up from time to time.  Sorry, I don't have one.

True. The difference is, the '51 Kaiser and '52 Kaiser Virginian both still use a separate starter button where the late '52s through the early '54 Special (and I believe all later Kaisers) have a turn key switch to run the starter as modern cars do.

Thanks for the info. Saved my money.

I'll just have to keep on the look out.

Mal.
