Kaiser Forum / Re: drag link source 1951 kaiser
« on: February 08, 2016, 02:40:55 PM »
Looking for a drag link assy. tie rod end for my 1951 kaiser 4-door deluxe sedan. It is the 11.5 inch long rod-end that connects to the idler lever.

The source I noted earlier has not worked out yet.  Sent me the wrong part.

I finally located a source for a drag link assy. tie rod end for my 1951 kaiser 4-door deluxe sedan. It is the 11.5 inch long rod-end that connects to the idler lever. Found it at www.shocks2springs.com/CHASSIS-PARTS. 800  344-1966 or 970 513-8283.  I wrote a letter to Larry Barker a week ago but did not get a response.  Also included in my letter that Mike Fleming says hello. Guess he is too busy or out of town.

Anyone have a source for a replacement spring? This is the spring for the front of the hood.

The Dynamat sound & heat deadening material looks like a great choice for my Kaiser. An upholstery shop recommended its use only on the floor, firewall and doors but not on the headliner due to heat on roof.

Thank you.

What is a good sound insulation material you can recommend?  Restoration on my 1951 4-door Deluxe Kaiser is completed except for a new interior.  The car is noisy.  Kanter Auto Products advertises sound and thermal deadening materials.  Any experience with these?

Thanks,

Kaiser Forum / Re: Drum Brakes

:)I want to thank everyone for their helpful comments. It's going to be a lot o work on my part but I will take the wheels and drums off again and use some kind of coating on the shoes or drums to see how each each shoe is making contact with its drum.

Kaiser Forum / Drum Brakes

I finally got my 1951 Kaiser 4-door deluxe sedan running with all mechanicals rebuilt/restored.  I adjusted the new drum brakes per the shop manual but I am not happy because they are not very good for stopping. Scares me.  During rebuild I checked each shoe fit to its respective drum and they all looked like a pretty good fit.  I am now considering going to disc brakes.  Any recommendations about drum brake adjustments & sources for disc brakes?

Thanks,

Marse

Kaiser Forum / 6 volt + ground alternator insatallation
« on: August 30, 2014, 11:49:29 AM »
The alternator vendor recommended a 12 ga shunt on the ampmeter.  Ampmeter does not show current flow - that is "the needle" does not move. Any recommendations?  should I use a smaller ga wire shunt?

Kaiser Forum / Re: oil seal Hydramatic to drive shaft

Thank you.  I'll ask my local NAPA dealer to check this out for me.

Marse

My local NAPA dealers cannot locate the 1-2727 seal nor the National  6010 seal which is presently on the car.  Anyone else have other sources or solutions?
Thank you,

Marse

Kaiser Forum / oil seal Hydramatic to drive shaft
« on: July 22, 2014, 02:15:11 PM »
Where can I get a replacement oil seal for the rear end of the hydramatic trans where the drive shaft enters the trans?  I have a 1951 4-door Kaiser 4-door deluxe sedan with a K50 GM HydraMatic Trans. The existing seal has a National P/N of 6010. This seal has a leather material/seal that rides on the drive shaft.  I don't know if this is correct for this car or not.  The drive shaft O.D. diameter is 1.5".  The O.D. of the 6010 seal (that fits into the trans) is approximately 2.156".
I would appreciate any help you can give.
