Help with door mounting
« on: June 13, 2017, 10:11:31 PM »
I haven"t found this information anywhere yet. How are the doors mounted? It appears that my car has new tracks and glides. There are small holes in the tracks that line up with the holes in the body, but they are too small to mount them. What should the size of the holes be? How are the tracks mounted, it seems if the doors are mounted to the tracks I could not get the the holes to put in the bolts and if I mount the tracks, I can't get the clips on the pins that mount the doors to the glides. What bolts mount the tracks, are they through bolts with nuts on the back of the fiberglass?

Thanks

On the axle seal assembly, where in the stack does the brake backing plate go? Is in just before the final gasket and inner axle seal?

Thank you for the door information, I guess I missed it when I went to kaiserbill's site before. last question about door mounting, I hope, what are the size of the bolt? it looks like I have a new set of rails with pilot holes. It looks like I need to drill and tap them for the 11 bolts.

Thank you,

Warren

The brake backing plate rests between the gasket associated with the outer oil seal and the retainer.

The door channels are held in place with 10-24 x 1/2 round head phillips machine screws. Also used are #10 external tooth lock washers and 7/16 flatwashers. There are 34 of each used in total for both the upper and lower channels.

Two different style door mechanisms were used. Attached are diagrams of both.

Thank you for the bolt information. I know now i need to drill and tap the channel for 10-24 bolts. I have the second configuration. It is mostly together, I just need to install handles and latch mechanisms.
