Help the needy again...Darrin Hood release braket?
« on: December 20, 2017, 11:55:54 AM »
Greetings all...Somewhere along the way the original Hood release lever was changed out to a generic replacement. I'll locate a replacement later but my problem is...I'm missing the bracket that is suppose to secure it under the dash... Is it unique to the Darrin or is it a Kaiser/HJ L-bracket like the one pictured below?
Regards!

The hood release cable and bracket is the same as 54 Kaiser. The 51-53 unit has the same bracket but the cable is too short - or so I’ve been told.

Part Number 215132 only shows up in the Darrin Parts Manual.
If that is the part you are seeking.  Best get it from another Darrin.

Knob??? We’re later cars a big old generic, black knob release or were all the “Hood” inscribed lever? I don’t want to assume, but is the term “knob” in the parts listing just generic jargon? Just want to clarify as I have nothing to work with and found one pic online that barely shows the lever clearly.

Well, I can tell you that the unit I removed from the car is identical to the 54 Kaiser unit I installed with the exception of a small hook on the 54K unit that is used to attach the cable to the fender well. I replaced the original because the cable had snapped. Both units have CAD plated handles.
