Kaiser-Frazer Corp. & Kaiser Motors Corp. stock certificates
« on: August 18, 2018, 12:51:04 PM »
I have collected about ten variations of stock certificates and always wondered about the issues supposedly issued in 1945 with a 1949 Frazer superimposed on the face of the certificate and similar ones with a 1954 Kaiser superimposed .  The stocks  appears to have been issued in 1945 according to the dates typed on the certificate.  I have seen them advertised as fake certificates but they certainly look official.  Does anyone know anything about them?

The certificates are originals that were overprinted by an enterprising eBayer some years ago.

Collecting Kaiser Frazer stock certificates is more than getting a blue one and a brown one as there were variations as the years went by and officers changing required different signatures of President and Secretary.  In the early series there is one for Less than 100 shares in Blue signed by Secretary John S. Click and President Joseph W. Frazer and a tan color for the 100 share certificates.  In 1948 the secretary's name was changed to Walston S. Brown.  There was also a reddish colored certificate  for over 100 shares available signed by the new President Edgar L. Kaiser with Brown remaining as Secretary.  Purple color certificates were issued for  larger amounts of over 100 shares and these were signed by Joe Frazer President and either Click or Brown's signature as Secretary.  By 1953 a company name change to Kaiser Motors Corp. started a new series of certificates with Edgar L. Kaiser President and Brown as Secretary.  There is also an orange colored Common Stock Voting Trust Certificate.  There are other variations including the early certificates that someone over printed with a 1949 Frazer or 1954 Kaiser.  What else can we add to this list?

As far as share certificates were concerned, Kaiser-Frazer Corporation had 3 different categories;  Underwriter (the number of shares were typewritten in rather than printed on the certificate), Even Lot (100 shares per certificate) and Odd Lot (less than 100 shares on the particular certificate).  You will find more information on this within KFOCI HANDBOOK in the section there on Kaiser-Frazer collectables.

KFOCI HANDBOOK is available only to those members of the KFOCI who's member categories get the member publications.  The item is on a CD and is a "perk" or thank you for being a club member.  Version 5.0 is still the currently available release level.  KFOCI HANDBOOK is NOT sold by the club to non-members and members have agreed by accepting the CD NOT to make copies or pass the information on to non-members.  Version 5.0 contains approximately 1,500 pages of information on Kaiser-Frazer Corporation, companies who were associated, affiliated or part of Kaiser-Frazer Corporation and the products they produced, along with other information that may be of interest to club members.  The only advertising in the CD is original material done by K-F or an associated company when the cars were new.
