Willys collection in Iowa on Ebay
« on: December 20, 2018, 09:59:55 PM »
Not mine, but came across this today. Not a well labelled listing, nor much detail given, but looks like 10 or 11 Aeros. All look to be worth saving, and he says there's paperwork.

Curious if this collection belongs to anyone in the club.

Interesting collection.  Several of the cars look familiar, but no 1955 Willys 2-door Custom sedans.

I recognize one of the cars as (formerly) belonging to a club member who does not live in Iowa. A quick search in the club directory didn't yield anyone living where the cars are located.

It appears every car is, at the very least, restorable...if anyone wants to own a 52-55 Willys, here's your chance!

Wow, some really nice looking Willys there. That blue one is especially nice, as are a couple of the hardtops. Going there to browse and pick out an Aero would be the closest we could get today to shopping at a Willys dealership in the '50s!!

At the risk of taking this thread off in the wrong direction.............a question for Willys owners. Are the two-door sedans 'tighter' (ie, less rattles, less water/air leaks, etc) than the hardtops? I know that with Studebakers that is the case.

The red and white hardtop appears to have a Massachusetts license plate on it.

And there's another with a Wisconsin tag on it. Someone was quietly collecting Willys products!

I had a 54 Aero Eagle Custom hardtop and aside from the door glass rattling, the rest of the car seemed "tight"...but then again, it only had 40K miles on it.

Certainly looks like a "one of a kind" collection of Aeros. He must've been aware of the KF club after buying at least one members car.

My 55 H.T. is quite solid, no body shake or excessive rattles.  Of course as with all hardtops window sealing is not perfect especially when older.  Actually it is probably the most solid older H.T. I've  owned, of course it is the smallest I've owned.

I've owned my Eagle hardtop for over 40 years and have had 2- and 4-door sedans in that time. Yes, the sedans are a bit tighter, but the hardtops are pretty solid. My hardtop has developed a stress crack near the back of each quarter window, but then Toby has been driven over 200,000 miles and the windows do rattle a bit more than the sedans.

Thanks guys for the input regarding hardtop Aero's versus 2-door sedan Aero's.

And Merry Christmas and hope for a safe New Year's Day to each of you!
