Oil Pressure Sending Units

The gauge parameters for the oil pressure sending unit changed from the 51-52 models in 53 and are not interchangeable, the part number for the 51/2's being 207415.

In searching for a replacement (or spare if the one in my 51 has indeed gone kaput) I found this one listed at Willow Run:  http://kfparts.com/store/product/oil-pressure-sending-unit-1951-early-1954-kaiser/ but their listing states it is good for models through early 54?

More confusingly, what appears to be the same part is listed at KaiserWilly's.com, listed as a 50 lb sending unit good for 48-55 trucks, wagons and jeepsters:  https://www.kaiserwillys.com/oil-pressure-switch-50-pound-engine-unit-fits-48-55-truck-station-wagon-jeepster

If you compare both parts, the pictured part is identical.

I've tried a parts lookup among the online parts manuals on CircleKF, but that sending unit does not show up as being in any of their Willy's parts books there, and the website doesn't seem to be loading the "Popular Parts List" manual for Willy's products, though in looking through some of the other Willy's parts manuals I do see they frequently make use of Kaiser parts numbers.

Can anyone shed any light on the discrepancy between Jack's info (change from 52 to 53)? and Willow Run showing the part good through early 54?

And, can anyone tell me if the one on KaiserWilly's.com is the same part?  Paying $28 for it at KW is much preferable to paying $65 for it at WR.  Heck, at $28 bucks I'd buy 2 cuz they're small.  :)

Here's the deal with the senders

The 1951-52 Kaisers used part number 207415 from King -Seeley according to the 1951 Kaiser (orange cover) illustrated parts list.  According to the February 1953 issued supplemet to the 1951 list that covers 1952 and/or 1953 Kaiser part changes, the 207415 is still correct, which makes the sender also good for 1954 Early Sppecials that had the 1953 Kaiser electrical system for gages.  it was only the temperature sender unit that changed.  A 50psi sender should still work so Konrad's findings from the various parts places makes sense.

808574 is the first part number listed in the Willys Motors Parts List of Popular Parts for the sender in all 6-226 applications (January 1958, April 1959 editions).  The October 1961 edition shows a part number change to 800807 which is the same part number listed for use also in F-head engines (description is a 50psi unit that would be consistent with 1951-54 Early Special Kaiser application).  The 800807 part number is also listed in the Popular Parts list dated December 1967 and is the newest of these books that I have.

Bottom line is that the part numbers  listed here should indeed work in a 1951 Kaiser

Many thanks Jack...awesome info!  Wish I had copies of all the parts books and lit that you have...eventually, hopefully...if I live long enough.  :)

First, one last bit of (double) cross-referencing by the factory on the sender part number

The Willys Motors Parts Price List dated November 15, 1955 indicates that 207415 was replaced by P/N K-717484.  The "K-" prefix was used on Kaiser-Frazer 226 engine parts (among other areas) that moved into the Willys Motors parts system during 1954-55.  Parts Price Lists issued after this point still listed the 207415 with notations that it could be mixed with Willys Motors P/N 717484.  In the last Parts Price List specific to Kaiser-Frazer part numbers, dated June 19, 1961 there is a notation on the 207415 line of the book to use the 800807 sender unit instead.  These notations fill in blanks (you may find the 717484 at swap meets, if we every have swap meets again) and confirms suitability for the Willys 800807.  You might even check with the parts department at your (soon to be) Stellarus dealer (the deal for French car maker PSA to purchase Fiat and Fiat Chrysler America (somewhat humorusly known as FCA, which were the initials of the Ferengi Commerce Association in the post 1985 STAR TREK television triology) with finalization expected in Spring 2021.  Check to see if the Jeep stores can still order it because of its various Willys Motors applications. 

Second, the often ignored Parts Price lists issued by Kaiser-Frazer and Willys Motors  can be a gold mine for car owners today as the exercise with the oil pressure sender demonstrates.  Here is a list of dates I have identified from covers or title pages of these books:

I'd have to say that Quark, from Deep Throat Nine (sorry, I have my own designations for the various Trek series) is my favorite Ferengi and also my favorite character from that series, though the Grand Negus was awesome too, as is any character played by Wallace Shawn.  :)
