Obviously the '51 lenses will never happen. Interest will wane in the cars themselves when parts cannot be obtained.  Better allow a waiver based on unavailability for all those future "judged" cars!

I suggested a workable, system to compensate for situations like the 1951 Frazer tail lights not being available at any price (or so it seems) and was shot down by the Chief Judge and certain well-connected club members.  In fact, as far as I am aware, the idea of getting judging standards into the hands of club members was shot down at the 2010 National Convention.

So much for this being YOUR club.

First of all I would like to thank for being the club historian and for all the information you have provided on this forum. I read it every day,and as far as it being OUR club I thought I would give you a little background.
I was raised with Kaisers, my Dad was a minister and purchased his first Kaiser in 1948, it was a '47 Kaiser, he then bought a new Frazer in 1949, in 1951 A new Kaiser and then a new '53 followed by a new '54 that he traded away in '55 when Kaiser ceased production, and that was a sad day for him. The last two Kaisers he had he picked up at Willow Run and drove home. In 1954 at 16 my first car was a '51 Henry J and as with all first cars I loved it.
Years later in the late 60's my Dad bought a '54 Kaiser which he restored himself. It was not a car for the 'purists' because it had putty in it and that sort of thing but he did it himself. He was proud of the car and received a 4th place ribbon at the national in Hershey, a ribbon I still have in my trophy case, by the way. He was a long time member of the club and always waited for the bulletin and his Seaway Socialbles. He and I attended the Homecoming at Willow Run as well as many Seaway meets. His name was Loren Holt and he knew many of the early members.
Now many years later I have rejoined the club and have aquired a '51 Henry J,and it has brought back many fond memories.
My Dad and I didn't worry about whether the parts were original or reproduction as long as they were right, what we both,as well as my sons, care about is the 'Marque'.
The judging, as with many other things may have gotten out of hand, but I think I speak for many members, we are here because we love the cars.
Thank You for the job you do.

I would also be interested in some key blanks for the K Series KF. Also, if someone has a source to repoduce them I would love to get some of the pushbutton door knobs going. I am not totally opposed to buying the lot of them and just reselling to club members.

I wasn't aware that the 49 push button knobs were hard to find nor that there was a big demand for them.  Thanks.

I was at the meeting in Texas and was not aware that the judging standards were shot down.  I only recall that they were not finished yet.  The judging standards are looking great and will be the most important information that the car owners can have. It does not matter if the Chief Judge likes them or not.  The members will and once they are in the members hands these standards will determine what is correct for judging our cars.  These judging standards are made from countless hours of research by Jack Mueller and  participation from knowledgable car owners.  This project was a huge undertaking and it is not finished yet.

I would like to see the trunk mats done for the 51-55 Kaisers and the front floor mats done in colors for same.

I would like to see shifter knobs and maybe dash knobs for various years reproduced. We have a very good set of dash knobs for our 48 Kaiser but the shifter knob has since degraded and fell apart (or crumbled would be appropriate too).
Anyone have a very good spare to sell?

I agree with kaiserkid on the items mentioned, plus the key blanks.  Great to read what everyone is looking for.

Rudy Phillips, one of the club vendors, stocks interior dash and lock knobs for most of the KF line. Front floor mats for 47-50 and 51-5 cars will soon be available once again. Rear carpet is now available. Trunk mats in the later cars was a weaved affair so the cost to repop them would be quite high, I'm sure.

Regarding key blanks, we had a member in NY who ran a tool and die shop. He looked into having them done but again, the cost to make a die that would hold up to a few thousand impressions was cost prohibitive. If memory serves, to break even the product would have cost about 8 or 9 bucks apiece...and that was 15 years ago...
