Here is a siting I do not recall hearing: In the the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?" near the end, a woman who worked in the EV-1 lease program goes to the Petersen Museum and is taken down to the basement to see a red EV-1. This car is parked in front of a yellow Darrin with the top down and the door open.

This afternoon I saw some of the low-budget independant movie "Ed Gein" about same.  There is a scene when Gein is poising himself to shoot the hardware store owner and as he's doing so, she is looking out the window at  a blue and white '54 Kaiser saying "He just bought her a new Kaiser..." or something to that effect. In any case, Gein murdered this lady in 1957 so it's an error since we all know there wouldn't have been any new Kaisers in 1957, at least not in Wisconsin.

I posted about this movie sometime ago I think. I saw it on IFC and they have a habit of running movies over and over again.

In reference to the Superman post--I clearly remember one scene in the 50's when Superman gets in front of a 54 Kaiser and stops it by reaching through the grille and pulling out a part of the engine. I always wondered how they fixed up the grille to let him punch through it and the radiator. I think he snatched the water pump off the block. Does anyone emember that scene?

You are correct Ben - reading the previous postings you did mention this one and I found it at Wallmart this morning for 99 cents!  Probably not the type of movie I'd watch over and over again but it's easy to fast forward to the scene with the Kaiser. According to IMDB.com, the movie was originally called "In the Light of the Moon " but they changed the title to "Ed Gein" because it is about Ed Gein, the deranged killer from Wisconsin (not MN) who did some crazy things. The car is a '54. Never saw a '54 this color before -

There are several episodes of SUPERMAN from the 1950's with Kaisers.  There is a fantastic chase scene in THE MAN WHO COULD READ MINDS involving a Kaiser in the lead (BAD GUYS) followed by Lois & Jimmy in her Nash Rambler convertible, followed by Clark and Perry in Perry's Packard convertible...bringing up the rear is inspector Henderson in a plain-clothes Nash 4-door sedan with a long whip antenna.  All cars are 1953's.  As for reaching through a radiator to get part of the engine, I've never seen that one, be it Kaiser or any other make.  Usually he just grabbed the rear bumper or lifted up the back end.

However, it would be easy to shoot such a scene back then.  Kaiser-Frazer's Southern California Division built two process cars for film and TV use.  These were shells with interiors that came apart in sections depending on shot requirements.  Water pumps, fans, other components could be set up to be "reached for" through the front opening.

KFOCI HANDBOOK VERSION 4.0 has a section on the process cars with pictures if anyone is interested.

I remember in the late 80s and early 90s when Nickelodeon was running Super Man every night it seemed there were always KF products shown in the episodes. Because Nick played them so often, I never bothered recording any. I guess I'd have to buy the DVDs now if I wanted to see them again.

I recently saw "The Killer That Stalked New York"  from 1950 and there was a great shot of a 1947/48 Frazer driving by. Unfortunately, I didn't record it. I'm sure TCM will run it again. When they do, I'll record it and post the picture.

The movie "My Favorite Year" with Peter O'Toole was on this morning. He plays an old time swashbuckler type who is to appear on a TV variety show whose star is billed as something Kaiser--the front name escapes me now. Anyway there are some Kaiser cars featured in the show that appear to have been of the type referred to by Jack above. The movie was made in 1982 so don't know if they found some stage cars left over from the early days or if they were built for the movie.

I believe the show in "My Favorite  Year" was called the "King Kaiser Hour" and I remember seeing this movie with a group of people shortly after it came out. No one but me made the "Kaiser connection!"

Great database with the KF cars. I also remember watching a "Mash" episode with a Frazer in it. Probably a 47, at least that is what it looked like to me. I think I saved the episode so I could check it out again. That is just really a fun website, thank you for sharing.
