Jeepster Parts Wanted
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:50:33 PM »
I have a 6 cylinder F-head Jeepster (1951) and am looking for two parts...the accelerator rod (the rod from the gas pedal to the bellcrank), and the short rod that connects the bellcrank to the carburetor. I am told that F-head equipped pickups and stations wagons use the same parts. Parts from the flathead 6 and any of the 4 cylinder engines do not interchange...been there and tried that. Aero and Darrin parts won't swap either.

So, if anyone has a parts wagon or truck with an F-head 6...I'd appreciate hearing from you!

OK, I'm not longer asking for the parts...I'M BEGGING! If anyone has an f-head 161 equipped Jeep and would be willing to lend me the accelerator rod, I am going to have it cloned. In fact, I'll probably have several made as I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for what is apparently a needle in a haystack. How about it...anyone out there with one?

And, if anyone has a rod out of a 161 f-head equipped Willys Aero, I'd be willing to try it for fitment too. I thought I had one from an Aero, but it turned out to be for an L-head equipped car.

Good news! I was able to fabricate a throttle rod for the Jeepster. Some 1/4" cold rolled rod, lots of measuring and bendiing, a 1/4x28 tap/die set and I'm in business!

It's a safe assumption that you will be blueprinting your reproduction and creating an initial production run of 3000 or so, right?

These types of 'victories' are what makes the hobby fun. Good news Jim, I hope it works well and lasts a long time.

Well, I finally got everything in place on the Jeepster...the carb, throttle assembly and return spring and by some miracle...it started! Now all I have to do is find somewhere to put the 47K so I can get it out of the shop!
