Start Relay 53 Manhattan
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:01:44 PM »
Hi All

I am installing the new wiring harness in the 53 Manhattan and come across a wire that goes to the Starter Relay.  Is the Start Relay part of the Start Solonoid?  I am looking at the little post on top of the Start Solonoid and wonder if this the relay itself?

McBrides wiring harness is really nice and labeled so even a layman such as myself can read it.

Thanks

Mark

Yes, the center post on the starter solenoid would be your relay connection. If your car has hydramatic drive, however, that wire will instead connect to one side of the neutral safety switch at the base of the steering column. Another wire runs from the other lead on the switch to the solenoid.
