12 neg ground
« on: January 23, 2013, 09:33:15 AM »
On the 51 I have the starter system on 12V and hooked up with - ground. I am using an aftermarket 12V coil to the original distributor(no other wiring hooked up at this time) and the engine turns over CW without doing any rewiring to the starter and runs within 1 crank of the engine, purrs like a kitten, only run it for a minute at a time until get the cooling system flushed and refilled. Henry.

If you have Overdrive, you may wish to address the relay and solenoid issue. If so you will get a wide history of experiences

No OD on this car. Here is what is used on Fords to reduce the 12V to 6V for the gauges, no longer available from Ford Canada, but are in stock at some Mustang specialty shops. C6DZ-10804-A. For some reason I have been unable to post pic's from my computer for the last few days, but OK on other sites???
