161 oil pump
« on: June 12, 2017, 06:18:45 PM »
Greetings all...as I'm plugin away at trying to get the motor running on the Darrin I'm looking to rebuild the oil pump from my donor engine to have on hand(just in case)...
Questions:

-What damage or wear should I look for on these pumps?
-What/how exactly does the spring in the larger relief plug actually work?

I did pull the cover and remove the gear to inspect it since this motor sat for a long time. Has a few blemishes I can clean up and the spring is quite worn in the middle....I'm having trouble locating a rebuild kit for it...any sources anyone has used? I can find individual pieces here and there, but a kit would be wonderful:-)
