Color chart for 53 Manhatten
« on: August 01, 2009, 02:10:51 PM »
Hi All

Where can I find the original color chart for a 53 Manhattan?  She is dark green with a white top and just about ready to head to paint.

Thanks

Mark

Those listings are all "Pete's Auto Data" Fid. He puts up "examples" of colour chips but never a picture of the actual one you are bidding on. So you don't know for sure if the colours you are getting are ALL the colours. Different companies made differing numbers of matching colours. Some clearly did NOT have matches for all the factory colours from what I have seen. Some may only have eight or nine colours while others have a dozen or more.

The first of these links is Ditzler PPG and has 11 chips. The second listing is for DuPont chips and there are 13 of them. The Ditzler is clearly short by two assuming the DuPont has them all.

I bought this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400063759823&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&salenotsupported - and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Covers all years from '48 to '55 except the 1950 set. DuPont. I don't know how many chips are in it but it looked like a good set for $15. And EXTREMELY reasonable shipping.

This guy has these available:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1951-1952-1953-KAISER-FRAZER-PAINT-CHIPS-ARCO_W0QQitemZ400035677647QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Manuals_Literature?hash=item5d23fc05cf&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262  (1951, 1952 and 1953 in "Arco" paint.)  It doesn't say how many chips for each year but I count 12 total for '51 covering Kaiser, Frazer and the HJ. Sounds low. Should be more I think to cover all three "brands". I'm guessing the 1953 chip count may be low.
