Field of Dreams - Your Back Yard Relics
« on: July 20, 2014, 08:47:08 AM »
Starting a new thread. Post some pictures of those KF products that, even with the best of intentions, never really turned into restoration projects. Here are a few pictures to get things started. Taken at a fellow KF member's place in PA.

Another rare relic. This is 51 Frazer Manhattan hardtop, serial number 1. Needless to say, it needs some work...

Where is that? Or is it long gone-crushed?
No old cars owned.

The picture was taken two weeks ago in a friends barn. It's in tough shape but being serial number one means we'll save it from the crusher.

Here's the '53 Willys Aero Lark that I had for a few years. Had some rust issues, but nothing too serious. Friend bought it for the engine, then gave me back the rest. I scrapped it out last fall. It had rat rod potential.

I need the clips the hold the door locks into the door.  Any chance you saved them?

I'm sure I have some of those clips somewhere. How many do you need? I'll dig around.

Both Front Doors.  I bought the locks but the clips did not come with.  Don't even know what they look like.  Assume they are like the Kaiser Trunk thought ... slide through them with the lock and then slide the clip over.  Need all the clips for the script all around, and the side stainless.   :(

Script clips are just the standard push-on barrel clips. I found the attached pic on OPGI, but you can find them almost anywhere.

And yes, I think that is how the clips for the door lock cylinder work. I will be stripping out two junker Aeros in the next month or so and will be sure to save them for you, if I don't find some in my stash of parts somewhere.

Jim: This seems like a good start to a thread. However, I remember years ago when my brother & I showed pictures of our cars and cars we had seen at car meets on the internet.  It seemed like any person seeing them outside the USA thought they could buy them. Will you take $15000? I will send you a bank draft for $20000 and you can refund me the excess. Will you store the car until I find a sucker, I mean ARRANGE transportation? Also my uncle who was the finance minister of major African Nation is under house arrest and needs help in accessing his money in a Swiss bank.

Just for the fun of it, here's a pic of Old Toby, my early 1954 Aero Eagle. The pic was taken about 3 days after I bought the car from Jack Edward, so that would be about November 15, 1978. I had already removed the badly mangled grille. Note the bungee cords to hold the hood down, latch was broken. Just for comparison, there's also a pic of Toby in his heyday - around the time of the Long Beach National 1989.
