Some more common parts
« on: July 21, 2014, 05:56:43 PM »
I went to a block party/cruise night on Saturday. Brought my '52 J. There was only one car there worth looking at in my opinion and that was a 1953 Hudson Jet.
When I looked it over I found the continental kit on the Jet uses the same license light used on the Henry J and later Kaisers which had them - a Hollywood Model 42

the same terminal junction block (no picture) and the same parking brake cable clip and overdrive relay.

Probably some other stuff too.
Of course some might argue the same hood prop mechanism many KF products use!

A 2dr Jet is one rare car. Just about as rare as a 51K business coupe.

The hood prop thing is misleading - I just looked at the video I took of it and that's not a hood prop, it's his sign explaining what the car is. From this side and distance it looked like it was holding the hood up but it's not. The car has a 202 CID six with two one barrel carbs and I found out that my brother-in-law's shop does all the work on it for him.

The two single barrel carb setup on a Hudson is known as Twin H Power. It was available starting in 1952. The late Bill Hafker, a KF and Hudson owner, drove his 54 Jet everywhere. He and I drove it to Front Royal, VA to check out a 51K he wanted to buy, only to pass on it so we then drove to Oshkosh, WI to pick up a 49 Nash Ambassador.

My mom's first car was a 195? Hudson Super Jet.  Apparently they only made around 34,000 of them in the two years.  Here is my dad washing it in around 1962 or so.

Nice picture 84RabbitGTI!  I was saving pictures off the H.A.M.B. and found one of a Hudson Jet and didn't notice till after I saved it that it was parked next to a '51 Kaiser about the same color!  Another neat old picture.

Hey, I like that picture, Fid!  Does anyone know what the paint number for that brown would be?

That's Oakwood Brown on the 51K.

Oakwood Brown, it does look very similar to the Hudson color.
