Auto Lite Distributor for 1947 Frazer
« on: December 16, 2014, 03:13:07 PM »
Is there more than one type/model distributor that can be used?  I'm hoping the one I have will clean up and work okay but you never know.

Your car would have originally been equipped with an Autolite IGS4211 distributor. In 1949, KF switched to an IGS4214, which can be used on your car. It has slightly different specs but for interchange, it will work.

You could also use a Delco 1110224 distributor, but it's not a good idea to mix Delco and Autolite components.

An Autolite IGS4205 will also work...it's actually a 1940s Nash application.

There is no modern substitute given how it mounts.

You would also need to include the distributor adapter base as they are different between Delco and Autolite.

Thank you gentlemen for the information.  Do you know what the 9B on the ID plate stands for?

Wow, that's interesting; the car is a 1947 so the distributor must have been changed out sometime in the last 65 years.  I guess that's possible.  The shaft is nice and tight and turns easily, it's just dirty as can be.  Hopefully it will be easy to clean up.
