Pos-Neg again
« on: October 30, 2015, 08:29:12 AM »
If anyone followed the previous post on positive-negative ground, I have a '53 Henry J a little over a month now. Somewhere along the line it was switched from pos to neg ground. The batt cables were switched as well as the coil terminals. When I start putting things back together, if I switch back the batt cables and switch the coil terminals, polarize the generator, is there other things I should look at/watch for?

Items like bulbs and the like will work either way. If your car has a radio it might need to be updated as some units were polarity specific.

If the car does have a radio, and has an original type vibrator (nice pleasant hum when it's turned on) in it, it will work fine. If it's been updated to have a solid state vibrator, (quiet, no hum when it warms up) that will have to be changed ($30 part).
