6-226 Timing Chain
« on: May 28, 2016, 11:38:05 AM »
I am in the process of going thru the 6-226 in my Aero. The question I have is how much deflection is normally seen in the timing chain. It seems like a lot compared to a SBC, but is about what is shown on a youtube video I found. Thanks for the help!

According to the KF shop manual, when the chain is off the engine and the two sides can be pressed together with your fingers, it is worn and needs replaced.

I missed the part about the chain being removed to press the sides together! The test did not make any sense the other way.
