emergency brake cable
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:44:00 PM »
Does anyone have a picture showing how the emergency brake cable is fastened to the brake drum.  I have all the parts, but took everything apart to put new shoes and cylinder on, but didn't pay attention to how cable fastens to the hook,

I don't know what car you have or how it might be different than those I'm familiar with but most I've seen you pull the "sheath" back and hook the cable into the grove on the lever attached to the rear shoe. Here's how it is on a Henry J -
1953 Henry J Corsair Deluxe
Edgar Kaiser's custom 1951 Henry J
1951 Kaiser Special
1952 Allstate Deluxe

My car is a 53 Manhattan.  Looks like the same set up as the picture of the Henry J.  So thanks for the photo.
