1947 Frazer's with a choke knob

Does your 1947 Frazer have a manual choke?  I thought that all Kaisers and Frazer's had automatic chokes until I was looking through a newly acquired  1947 Frazer owners manual and noticed a printed paper that was glued over the original text about starting the engine on page nine.  It describes how to use the manual choke which is located on the dash to the right of the cigarette lighter.  In looking through the Carter carburetor  specification sheets there is a form 4743 dated December 1947 for a Carter 574S which does not have an automatic choke for Frazer serial # F47-30770 and Manhattan serial # F47C-1021118 and says "limited production".  It would be interesting to know how many of these cars were so equipped and why.  It was probably due to a supply shortage and perhaps one of you has further information.   Just another quirk in the production of our favorite cars!

Gordie, I don't have a '47 Frazer. But, I really have never understood the move to automatic chokes. I like manual chokes, much more reliable and much more adjustable. My first car, a 1968 Datsun 510, had a manual choke and it was great. I wish my Studebakers had come with manual chokes.

Most folks would scoff, but I would prefer a '47 Frazer with a manual choke.

I have two 47 Frazer lower dash assemblies and both have a choke cable mounted on the far right end of the panel. One came off a car I parted out many years ago at the Kenneth Hembrough auction in Illinois. The car was definitely restorable but I had neither the resources or time to restore a car way back then. I'm sure it was crushed and turned into a new Toyota...

Hi Gordie, did research on this couple of years ago, I have a 47 Manhattan myself that ive been working on. Still working it. It has the manual choke button on the dash, and I want to go back to that.
But I found a 574S carburetor, for it, but it didn't seem to fit on the manifold to hook up the linkage. So put it on the shelf for other priority's.  Now I have the time to start working it again, Have to drop the gas tank and have it cleaned out, and need to find a proper
manifold.
I actually got up tonight to ask if someone could provide me a picture of the mounting area on the manifold so I can compare to what I
have, to make sure. If it is in fact different, then I need to find the proper manifold...
