I've heard the best time to catch Rudy is early in AM (He's in CA) so you may want to try that.

The ones Terry posted are not correct for Henry J.  The Henry J ones are rectangular.  Here's a pic

Those rubber bumpers are available from Rudy's KF Parts.  Part number 212033.  Rudy can be reached at 1-760-789-3608

Having looked over the pic of the rear you posted, I noticed it has a '52/'53 front bumper on the rear - further evidence it was put together using parts from different years/models. Not uncommon. My suggestion at this time is to enjoy it and be glad it survived.  It looks good and I'm guessing is a fun car to show and tell.  If you attend rallies/shows you'll very likely have the  only one there.

I avoided FB for a  long time but unfortunately, that's the way everything is going.  I still check in here occasionally and help when I can.

Best of luck and thanks for posting that info on the Vagabond serial numbers.  I learned something from that and it ended a lot of my confusion too.  I'm surprised my sources did not mention the "12.."  thing, only the "1" thing which I was pretty sure I had seen some some '52 Corsairs.  Good info!

Makes sense.  My source did not indicate the number "2" in the serial number so that explains why it has a glove box as a '52 Vagabond would not so yes, it's a '52 Corsair Deluxe.  This means someone over the past 70 years replaced the fenders and grill - not uncommon since they are all bolt-ons and can be exchanged easily so that's what happened with this one.  Also most, '52 Vagabonds retained their '51 body tags.  The one I had had a K523 Serial number but a K513 body number which is the way most of them were.  People tend to like the earlier grill so many of them were changed.  Also the later grills were thin and chincy and rusted out which was another reason many of them were replaced with the earlier style which were heavy thick steel.

It's not possible to assume a car that is 70 years old is still completely original.  The body number k52412002019 (the number "1" directly proceeding the K524) indicate it's a '52 Vagabond which would have all of the features of a '51 model.  At the end of the '51 model year KF had approximately 7,000 '51 models that had not been sold so they retagged and titled them as a '52 Vagabond model. Post pictures of all the tags (Body tag and data tag on cowl and serial tag between the driver's door hinges) and it can be decoded.

Kaiser Forum / Re: MOTOROLA RADIO

There's one other change to the '54 model year radios.  The "Emergency Broadcast" station (Conelrad) marks were added to the glass dial face.  They are the little triangles, one pointing upward to the right of "55" and one pointing downward just above "120."  Interesting remnants of the cold war.  The '51 - '53 version does not have those.

The only info I have on them is they are Motorola and were made specifically for KF products.  As far as knobs/buttons go, there was a website that sold antique radio parts that I had bookmarked but now the bookmark doesn't work.  If I find another site, I'll post it on here.  Regardless, I can probably make the radio you have work.  Let me know if you want to have that done.

Henry J & Allstate Forum / Re: 51 HJ Wiring Harness
« on: October 18, 2023, 06:14:50 PM »
I got all my wires from Rhode Island wiring.  And the wire wrap (it's not just black electrical tape) from ebay. I'd caution anyone who purchases a Henry J wire harness as there are some outfits I've seen online that list one part number for a HJ harness. Larry I believe your car is a '53 which would have Delco electrics and the harness is different than the early cars that have Autolite.

all modern "cloth" wires are merely plastic coated wires with a cloth overlay.
Very true.  I made my own harness for my Allstate which was kind of a hybrid.  Similar to a '53 Henry J harness in that it has the inline fuse before the headlight switch unlike the earlier ones that have the fuse holder on the switch itself. But being an early '52 it has Autolite electrics so the starter button circuit and starter circuit are different. I had two old ones I used as a pattern but I don't think I'd want to do it again.  If you don't feel comfortable with doing electrical work, it may be best to let someone who is do it.

I've added a number or movies / cars to that site.  A lot of the comments people have left are inaccurate but no matter, it's great to see the cars in the movies.  TCM shows a lot of them, visit tcm.com to view their schedule.

Glad to know it has found a new home. It's a great looking car. I'm sure the new owner will enjoy it.
