Title: DARRIN REAR DECK HINGES
Post by: Terry T on September 18, 2017, 09:32:27 AM
How were the hinges put together originally?
There does not appear to be a set screw to attach the center pin to the base.

I can't be of any help with the question but I too would like to know the original construction of the deck/trunk hinges. Mine are held together with socket head machine screws and nuts. To make matters worse, one of the hinges is hand made of stainless steel and although someone did a pretty good job of shaping them, there are holes drilled clear through to fasten with counter sunk hardware. Not very classy! On the plus side, one pair of hinges is stock and in pretty good shape. Steve

The two halves are held together with a knurled pin. Over time, the pot metal casting stretches and the pin will slip out which is one reason why there are so many home made repair/replacements.

I haven't had my repops drilled for the pins yet, but was told to be sure to add a set screw. Amazingly I have both originals in tact for reference... I'm a ways away from that task but following and absorbing any other suggested methods...
