I'm rebuilding a couple Aero 6v generators and am stumped by the rear bronze bearing. I tore down 4 old generators, 3 previously rebuilt and one Autolite, unknown if it's original or not.
When I removed the rear bronze sleeve bearings, the rebuilds had a groove cut clean through one side of the bearing, I suspect to line up with the oiling hole. The Autolite was a solid sleeve, no cut.
The commutators on the rebuilds were pretty gummed up, Autolite nice & clean.
I've got NOS Autolite replacement bearings, solid, no hole. What proper on a rebuild, drilled or solid?

Found out the answer today, not drilled if they're porous bronze.
I have several extra NOS Auto-Lite GGU-38A porous bronze bushings, $5 each plus postage. I am guessing the moderator should now move this to "Parts For Sale"
