Title: Sharp Looking Aero Eagle in Lakeland Florida
Post by: jbailey on January 29, 2018, 10:55:04 PM
Below is a link to a very nice looking 1953 Willys Aero Eagle for sale in the Lakeland, Florida area. The seller is asking $7500.  Only one interior shot of the rear bench seat and rear passenger side window is shown.  No pictures of the engine, but text says 6 cylinder and overdrive is there.  Anybody know this car?

Same car posted in Tampa Florida Craigslist.  Other photos are shown here.

Description indicates the car still has its original type F-head engine (Hurricane 161 cu in 6 rather than the "Lightning" L-head 161 cu in 6)

Nic looking car! I have a soft spot for these Willys.  :)

I recognize this car. The front license plate in particular. I believe it used to belong to Bill Tilden. I saw it on TV years back. Seems a fair price for a nice original car.

I'd be much farther ahead with this than my hardtop, even with shipping, but can't bring myself to do that, and dont have room for another one.

Am I mistaken or is there a big dent in the speaker grill on the dash.

That certainly looks like a dent but it could be easily repaired.  It is a very nice looking car and is a bargain for someone.

That does look like a good buy.

Appears the seller also has some blue chairs for sale, pictured in front of a garage with this Aero plus 3 more, and another vintage car I'm not familiar with.

The car on the left is a 1952 Studebaker. The one in the middle is another Willys:

The next Aero in line has '54 headlight rings, red one is something other than the Aero I thought it was. Last one looks to me like a candidate for being a wide rear window Aero. I'm guessing a club member or ex member.

MarkH, you are correct it is our club member, David Horton, in Lakeland. This car attended our 2016 Sunshine Region meet at the Carlisle Events. It is a real beauty. He also has a 1955 Willys Custom with only 35,000 miles on it for sale. His phone number is (863) 937-5510 if anyone is interested.

Dave Horton's (when they were owned by Bill Tilden) '53 and '55 plus Old Toby (my '54) when they were filmed for "Legends of the Road" on ESPN2 about 15 years ago,
