How Many Black Darrin’s made ?
-
It looks pretty nice in Black. It seems to have the early seat stitching from the first fifty made.

Nope--early stitching is characterized by a button in the center of seat panels

A black Darrin was present at the 1994 national in Nashville TN. That was the year an attempt was made to gather as many Darrins as possible at a national meet. I don't recall the exact count but it was somewhere near thirty. The black Darrin needed restored but ran and drove. It was purchased from a fellow in Cuba some years before and I believe came stateside just prior to Fidel assuming power.
I'm not sure if the car was a special order or was painted black later but I do know it preceeded those mentioned here.

On the Dragon List only 2 Black Dragons. Said You could see waves in the metal so stayed away from Black Laquar.
I was wondering how many Original Darrin’s in Black on The List.

Here's the Nashville Darrin.

Blanch Mericle's daughter Loralee had a black Darrin for awhile. Of course, the black on it was not original. The Nashville one looks a lot like the picture of it from a KFOC calendar a few years back.

Same car.

Apparently, one black Darrin was constructed. The attached is from the January 1964 KF Quarterly but originally appeared in trade and local newspapers (Toledo?) in 1954.

Learn something new...But I wonder if Devilbiss simply repainted a previous colored car to address paint issues to the fiberglass or if he got to shoot a raw body...either way...there it is:-)
