Yes, I saw that one. One of my favorite colors - Sabre Jet blue.  It's a Corsair Deluxe with overdrive.  Looks very workable but it's located out in the sticks: Adams, ND.  Hopefully someone will rescue it.  Looks like a good deal from my seat.

PS - it has an original Henry J jack in the trunk too. Those are not easy to find.

I have hunted upland birds and waterfowl in North Dakota for many years. We see gems like this frequently--especially 50's farm trucks.

No salt usage in the far north--not a lot of rust in that dry climate

Happy to say that I am the new proud owner of the above '53. The car and I are the same age!
I have been wanting a HJ since I was in high school. (A long time ago). The owner of a corner service station had a gasser that I fell in love with.
The car runs great, just doesn't stop so well. The e-brake works, but the hyd. pedal goes to the floor.
Very little rust on the car, but the rockers may have been replaced at some point in time. Haven't had a chance to look it all over yet, but I am very pleased!
I drove 2600 miles round trip from Ohio to pick the car up, the last 15 hours in the snow!
Looking forward to all the helpful hints that I can gather from this forum.

I'm about 20 miles south of Toledo.

njpatera, I learned to drive in a 1961 Falcon Station Wagon !
Pretty sure that it was a 4 door though.

Congrats and glad you're here larryk.  Your car is almost a twin to mine. Mine is a '53 Corsair Deluxe in pea****** blue (picture attached) with the same upholstery. Saber Jet blue is a gorgeous color too. Regarding the brakes on your car, even when working HJ brakes are not like modern brakes when it comes to stopping power but they do and will work.  The master cylinder is a pain to get at on the Henry J - not a lot of thought went into maintenance when it was designed!  If you lift the carpet in it, there are two panels around the clutch and brake pedal that can be removed for partial access.  If the cover on it comes off, you can fill it by removing the driver's side front wheel and reaching down behind the frame.  If you need to replace / rebuild it, the bolts are a pain to remove but it can be done and when you have everything working, you will have a fun and unique car which for the most part is pretty easy to maintain.  The '53 J has all Delco Remy components so the points, rotor, condenser, cap etc. are readily available.
