...that introduction of the Henry J had been delayed a year and full attention and resources given to a V8 and a 2 door hardtop. We might still be able to buy a new Kaiser.

I hear this all the time but the fact is if it weren't for the Henry J there would have been no post '51 Kaisers. In 1949 KF was hurting big time. The only way KF could stay afloat was by securing a government loan and a condition of that loan was that part of the funding go towards building a small affordable car. This meant they had to build the Henry J, there was no funding otherwise.
