Title: 1953 Kaiser Traveler Brake Drums/linings??
Post by: pjkaiser on November 13, 2019, 06:23:32 PM
My brakes went out at a car show and I had to slow and stop with the emergency brake.  I just took the front drum off and noticed they have been cut more than necessary, so much so, that when I adjusted the LF, the adjusters had no more adjusting left.   Is there any place to get new drums??   I have yet to get the back drums off - yet.  They will need work, however, the emergency brake work well, so they must be ok for now.  I would assume the backs are as bad as the fronts, so I would be looking for rear drums as well.

Also, I believe the brake linings need to be organic for good stopping power.  Are we able to get oversized linings like were available long time ago???

Check in parts, about getting a drum.  I sent pictures of how I solved my problem.   My brakes work great now.
