Title: 1953 Kaiser door handle spring replacement
Post by: jmxkf1 on April 23, 2020, 11:03:04 PM
Hi,
The front door handle doesn't spring back and I'd like to fix it.  I couldn't find instructions in shop manual for removal of the assembly.  I took off the door panel and see the handle with what looks like a piece of a broken spring showing.   The handle assembly is riveted together.
How do I get the assembly out, if that's what is needed?     Can the spring be replaced ?   Any advice would be helpful.   thanks,  Jim

The spring can be replaced without removing the actuator assembly from the car. CAREFULLY spread the tabs apart to remove the broken spring. This is a very common problem with cars of this era. Check eBay for a replacement - KF club vendors may have them as well.

Thank you.  I'll look on Ebay for Kaiser parts and keep checking.  Can't reach Rudy for a part.
