What are you guys using?
-
My car was fitted many years ago with a machine oiler unit. It's all brass with a glass cyl., it shined up real nice.
-
I found a remote from a Porsche on eBay about $10. A clutch reservoir off a modern car would work as well.
-
I bought one from Wilwood & made a sheetmetal bracket to mount on the fender well. Not vintage, not in the factory location but I can check the level at a glance, and it's easy to reach//fill.
-
Also from Wilwood on my Henry J.
-
How did you bond the nipple to the cylinder cap?
same for plug vent hole?
-
I drilled the cap and put in a hose barb. Sealed the vent with jb weld.
-
Like this.
-
Filled the top of the cap with lead, drilled & tapped for a hose barb, then drilled & tapped the vent just enough for a plug to tighten up in the lead.

that's what i had intended, but did not know if JB Weld is ok with brake fluid
-
No leak after 1 year.

High end race car stuff but it looks good ! https://www.strangeengineering.net/product/strange-master-cylinder-reservoir.html/

Don't think that you need a dual reservoir, and the single is much cheaper.

There was (is?) a US company that reproduced a period correct looking metal cannister reservoir with a screw top, included was a mounting bracket, master cylinder cap with hose barb, and I think the hose. It was a nice kit & looked very similar to a single cannister Austin Healey Girling reservoir, which are easy to find. I can't remember the name or find it in a quick search. It was a nice set-up but I wanted something translucent so I could view the level at a glance.

Wagner sold a tapped cap to fit our M.C., but good luck finding one.
-
I suspect this is the one Mark is talking about. Not exactly a bargain but looks more authentic than most

I have this which I think is left over from a KF kit.
-
I do not think that vertical hose barb will fit under the HJ floor boards. I had to use a 90 degree one.
-
I bought a couple of kits and letting them know it was for a Kaiser car they pointed out the clearance problem and supplied the cap with a 90 degree fitting.

Yes, that's the one. Very nice and definitely looks era correct. Dorman makes a round "bellows" type cap gasket that might fit it if you want a sealed chamber instead of a direct vent to atmosphere. (Dorman #42072) I did that on mine, bellows not nearly big enough to compensate for much fluid loss so checking often is required.

just installed w/straight nipple--fits, barely, but it fits
