Title: This is cool...wind up 51 Henry J Dealer Promo...
Post by: konrad on November 18, 2020, 04:42:44 PM
If I was more well healed I'd buy it...for its rarity, connection to HK, and just for the nostalgia of old wind up toys like this!

Cool indeed!
If it was a '53, I'd be all over it!

51's were all that was ever made from two different makers in several different colors.  This one is in very nice condition.

Holy crap!  Sum B sold for $330...

I've paid that much for a book before, but a wind up toy that you'll likely wind up once and then put on a display shelf forevermore?

I thought it would go high judging from the condition & action I saw a few days ago. I used to collect vintage toy boats (among other things) and paid pretty good (at the time) for a few. Kicking your own *ss later for passing on a good one will affect your viewpoint on later finds. I got pretty good at opening the seams to repair the wind-up motors & re-crimping them without scarring the lithographed colors.
And yes, wind them up once or twice & in the display they go. Forever will only last till I go in the box :-)

That was a very nice one and we have seen them go for much more money.  Try finding one in each color and from Banthrico and Lincoln line and occasionally find one in the original box.  There are well over 100 Kaiser-Frazer toys and models documented.  "The fun is in the search!"
