I just acquired a NOS 905864 oil pump for my 55 Custom from a friend in Canada. The 905864 pump is the only oil pump that will fit the 226 Aero cars because of the modified shape of the oil pan. Hopefully these photos will show how the intake is in a completely different orientation from the one from the Kaiser 226 oil pumps. The top one in the photos is for the Aeros and the bottom for the Kaisers. .

Where can we purchase one as we will be restoring a 1955 Aero next year and expect to do a full engine rebuild at that time?

If you can't find an NOS or rebuilt pump Egge Machine can do a nice job rebuilding yours, confirming PSI & flow rate with a hot oil test when finished.

Thank you.

Egge is really the only option unless you get really really lucky to come across a NOS somewhere. I feel like that I won the lottery!

Being NOS, the gasket would be logical thing to replace. On closer inspection the old gasket was a dull grey color which made me suspect a lead gasket so I tested with a lead test kit from Lowes and it is indeed lead. Although the lead is not deteriorated, My question is how well did those lead gaskets hold up on the oil pumps?

Jeep oil pump?

I do not know of any other (than the 226 in aeros) vehicles that has a modified oil pan than requires a different style of oil pump. I suspect not.
