Title: Edmonds head on a 1950 226 engine
Post by: WillysTom1 on September 17, 2021, 04:48:47 PM
Are the torque specs on an Edmonds head different than the standard 226 head torque specs?

I finally stumbled across the manual for the Edmunds head that came with the 50 Traveler. Wow, the torque specs is 75 to 80 pounds.

All of the Edmunds equipment had already been installed when I bought the car. The spark plugs were all fouled and upon removing plug #6 I discovered that it had been cross threaded so I sent the head out to have it cleaned up, shaved a little, and the # 6 plug hole heli-coiled. We torqued everything but five bolts to 60 pound two that will not go beyond 35 pounds and then three in the back where the torque wrench cannot fit onto so we did those by hand.   Right now I am waiting to retorque all of the head bolts. The two carburetors one barrel with only one having a choke.
